Granted, some of the troubles were caused by the previous rental property stalling the verification process, however the inadequate communication made it difficult too. In short, I had utilities running, but was not able to move in after a month. It was only then that I found out I needed to pay an extra $1,000 (which was not brought up when we discussed the cost and I was not told the $325 deposit was non-refundable). I offered to buy the renter's insurance for $9, even though I had my own, but had to buy theirs. After many inconsistencies, I decided not to go through with it. The worst part was that after I told them three times, twice over the phone and once in an email, that I was no longer interested, they said it could take 30-90 days to get my money back.
