The building is over 100 years old, so its not without its problems, but any issue Ive had was resolved quickl This is a very unique place and a great first apartment for someone just starting out without a lot of money. Although all the units are enclosed within the building, Ive never had any problem with noisy neighbors. Everyone Ive met has been incredibly nice. You need a key fob to get inside, so Ive never really felt unsafe.The building is next door to a fire station and the police station is down the street a bit, so be prepared to hear sirens at any and all hours of the day/night. Its not frequent enough to really bother me, personally, but I can understand why it might put some people off. Theres also a train that runs through town.The building is within walking distance of a lot of different restaurants and shops in Hammonds downtown area, and close to a parking lot that is occasionally blocked off for fun special events.I can only speak about my own experience living at Hammond Eastside School Apartments, but overall Ive been very happy with my stay. more ... hide ...
