The staff have hypocritical values that they do not follow and continuously bully those living there, leading to psychological damage. Many people leave in worse condition than when they arrived, and if they report the mistreatment to higher-ups, nothing will happen unless you are white - this can cause anger and bitterness due to being continuously harassed. African American staff are especially belittling and condescending towards others - even their own. It's hard to work on oneself or take care of oneself while living here because it feels like an institutional setting. People become so beaten down that it seems impossible for them to get back up; leaving one feeling lost with no other option but staying there instead of finding hope elsewhere. Behind-the-scenes is beyond appalling but if walls could talk, one would be disgusted by what is heard. The case managers are great at trying help those in need get back on their feet, as well as a wonderful woman who worked graveyard shift - she was like a divine Earth Angel sent from God himself to heal the suffering of others due her own experiences with hardship. more ... hide ...
